TGIF (3) – August 10th

Happy Friday everyone 🙂

It is TGIF time of the week. TGIF is a weekly meme hosted by GReads. This weeks question is:

– Unexpected Books: Which books did you have reservations about reading, but ended up loving once you did?

This is a hard one because i have never really had reservations about anything i wanted to read.

The closet would have to be The Great Gatsby. I only read it for class so i had no expectations of it. When i finished reading it, i loved it. It has become an all time favourite.

Top Ten Tuesday (#3) – August 7th

Hi everyone it’s Top Ten Tuesday Time again 🙂
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks question: Top Ten Posts On Your Blog That Would Give The BEST Picture of YOU.

This will be easy because i haven’t had my blog up and running for very long 🙂

I have put one of each post from my different categories and all my favourite reviews.

1: My very first book review. It was on City of Lost Souls. It was also my first angel series.

2: My very first Top 10 Tuesday (I missed last weeks).

3: My very first Waiting On Wednesday post.

4: My very first TGIF post.

5: My very first Book to Movie Monday.

6: My book review of Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It was my first 5 star review!

7: My book review of Of Poseidon by  Anna Banks. The last review i gave five stars.

8: My first book review on a book that is not fantasy or YA. Room by Emma Donoghue.

9: The first book i bought just to review on my blog. Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey

10: Last would be The Serpents Shadow by Rick Riordan. I am a huge fan of all his writing.

Well that is all of them. I hope that this shows a little of what i love!

I can’t wait to see everyones pages. 🙂

“Book to Movie” Monday (#3) – The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

, ,

TitleThe Hobbit
J.R.R. Tolkien
Random House

Bilbo Baggins was a hobbit who wanted to be left alone in quiet comfort. But the wizard Gandalf came along with a band of homeless dwarves. Soon Bilbo was drawn into their quest, facing evil orcs, savage wolves, giant spiders, and worse unknown dangers. Finally, it was Bilbo–alone and unaided–who had to confront the great dragon Smaug, the terror of an entire countryside . . .

“Book to Movie” Monday is where I write what books I would like to see turned into a movie or a book that is already in production.

So this weeks pick is a movie in production and it is The Hobbit!

I was jumping up and down in my seat when I first heard about this, and I am even more excited now that it has been split into three movies. That’s right, not two, but THREE movies.

Peter Jackson, director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, will also director The Hobbit.

I am also excited to see all my favorites from The Lord of the Rings back on the big screen.

Bring on December 2012!

Anna Dressed In Blood – Kendare Blake

, ,

Title: Anna Dressed In Blood
Author: Kendare Blake
Series: Anna
Pages: 316
Format: Hardcover
Publisher: Tor Teen
Published: August 30th 2011

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story…

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead. So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

I thought I would write a review on Anna Dressed In Blood as the next installment of the Anna series, Girl of Nightmares, comes out this week.

I love everything about this book. Ghost and ghost hunters, witches, mind readers and plenty of blood!

The whole time I was reading this book, I could not help but think of Supernatural (the TV series) which made Cas resemble the sexy Winchester boys as I read (YUMMY!).

Anna is a kickass, scary, rip you apart and store you in the floor ghost. I really enjoyed her as a character.

I hope that a novella prequel about Cas’s dad comes out. I’m sure we will find out about his past in the series but I would love him to have his own book 🙂

If you love books with great character development and supernatural teenagers you will love Anna Dressed In Blood!

So if you haven’t read Anna Dressed In Blood yet, you need to go out right now and get yourself a copy and make sure you pick up Girl Of Nightmares from August 7th 2012.

5 Stars: Amazing! I loved it and could not put it down. I highly recommend it.

“Waiting On” Wednesday (#3) – The Mark of Athena

Happy August Everyone!

I love the world of Percy Jackson and i can’t wait for The Mark of Athena, the 3rd installment in The Heroes of Olympians series.

I’m so excited to see what happens and the cover looks so awesome!

“Book to Movie” Monday (#2) – Tully by Paullina Simons

Paullina Simons

Paullina Simons’s Tully is the powerful story of a young woman from the flat plains of Kansas. Tully’s story is as embracing as the wheat fields and as sweeping as the prairies from which the drama unfolds. Five young Kansans, struggling to find a place in the world, are touched by a tragedy which alters and shapes their lives for more than a decade. Three women – best friends – desire each other’s lives more than their own. Jennifer, shy and withdrawn, can do no wrong in her parents’ eyes, but Jennifer’s heart is not in Kansas. Julie, who comes from a large, loving family, feels she belongs nowhere. And fierce and tender Tully is at war with the world, yearning for dreamless sleep. Two young men, Robin and Jack, forever change the lives of the three women as they all come into the world of the seventies and eighties. This is not a novel of coming of age, for Tully was always of age – grown before her time. Her story is an odyssey in which she must explore her own troubled past as she forges into an uncertain future. Tully will find and lose friends, lovers, and family and uncover shocking truths about herself before she confronts the hard choices from which she can no longer hide. In Jennifer, Jack, Robin, Julie, and, especially, Tully, the pain of loss and betrayal as well as the gifts of friendship and love are revealed by an astonishing new writer

“Book to Movie” Monday is where I write what books I would like to see turned into a movie or a book that is already in production.

A book I have wanted to see became a movie for over ten years now is Tully. I have read and re-read this book so many times I have lost count.

It will make you cry, laugh and take you by surprise.

I would pick Danielle Panabaker to play Tully,

Taylor Lautner to play Robin, and

Liam Hemsworth to play Jack 🙂

It is a heart breaking, addictive story that will always hold a place in my heart, and if one day it becomes a movie, I will be at the midnight screening.

TIGF (#2) – July 27th

, , , ,

Happy TGIF everyone 🙂

It is that time of week again.

TGIF is a weekly meme hosted by GReads. This weeks question is:

Christmas in July: If Santa were to come down your chimney in the middle of summer, which books would you want him to leave for you under the tree?

I picked –

Oynx, because I am dying inside waiting for it and there is nothing better in summer than hot, sexy aliens!

The Alchemyst (Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), because it has been on my to-read list for way to long 🙂

Of Poseidon – Anna Banks

, , ,

Title: Of Poseidon
Author: Anna Banks
Pages: 326
Format: Paperback
Publisher: Hardie Grant
Published: 22nd May 2012

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he’s heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen — literally, ouch! — both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma’s gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . .

Told from both Emma and Galen’s points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.

Look out Vampires, Syrenas (Merman) are taking over and boy they are HOT!

I first wanted this book because I loved the title and the amazing cover. I had know idea it was about Merman – sorry Syernas. After reading it I was blown away by the great story lines and twists.  Banks is an amazing writer who knows how to keep her audience wanting more.

The characters are funny, smart and sexy!

Emma is witty, smart and adorably funny (in a clumsy sort of way) and Galen is strong, gorgeous and innocent. He makes me smile whenever he thinks of Emma. If only she wasn’t meant to marry his brother. I love the undeniable connection they share. It is cute without being sickening (I would go to an island with Galen any day).

It’s great that you get to read it from both points of veiw. It makes you connect more with both characters.

I loved that the book finished with what I was hoping and I can’t wait for the next instalment! Make sure you grab an eBook copy of Legacy Lost to pass the time. It is a prequel to Of Poseidon and answers a few questions you might have.

Of Poseidon made me laugh and cry. I will be dreaming of the ocean for the next year waiting for sexy, hot Syrenas. Of Triton is expected in 2013 so keep an eye out 🙂

4 Stars: I really liked it. I recommend it.

“Waiting On” Wednesday (#2) – Wolf Pact by Melissa de la Cruz

, ,

Title: Wolf Pact
Author: Melissa de la Cruz
Series: The Wolf Pact series
Publisher: ATOM
Published: September 6th May 2012

From the bestselling author of Blue Bloods, comes a series that will reinvent the myth of the werewolf in the same way that Blue Bloods did with vampires—with style and NYC flair!

Lawson and his brothers escaped from the underworld and now lead desperate, dangerous lives. They’re pursued by the Hounds of Hell from one town to the next, never calling any place home. But when the hounds finally catch up with them and capture the girl Lawson loves, the hunters become the hunted. Lawson will stop at nothing to track down the hounds, even if the chances of saving Tala are slim…

The only hope he has lies in Bliss Llewellyn. Bliss, too, has lost someone to the beasts and will do anything to get them back—even if it means joining forces with the insolent, dangerously good-looking boy with a wolf’s soul.

“Waiting On” Wednesday (#2) – Wolf Pact

I love the sound of this and I love the awesome cover. I haven’t read anything by Cruz before. Her Blue Blood series is meant to be very popular. Has anyone read these or anything by Cruz?
