Title: The Program
Author: Suzanne Young
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Published: April 30th 2013
Goodreads

Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone.

With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone—but so are their memories.

Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is setting in.

And The Program is coming for them.

Hi everyone it’s Top Ten Tuesday Time 🙂
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks question:

October 23: Top Ten Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit

I found this a little hard because i haven’t read much supernatural books until lately.

1) Anna Dressed In Blood and Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake (Ghosts)

2) Obsidian and all the Lux series (Aliens -sexy ones ;-))

3) Goosebumps by R. L. Stein ( Everything)

3) Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (self explanatory!)

4) Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling (What supernatural creatures are not in it)

5) The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (gods, and lots of monsters)

6) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (Demons of all sorts)

7) The Witches by Ronald Dahl (Scary witches)

8) Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman (Witches and curses)

And that all i can think of!

I can’t wait to see what everyone else has picked 🙂

Title: Furious
Author: Jill Wolfson
Publisher: Henry Holt
Published: April 16th 2013
Goodreads

Three high school girls become the avenging Furies of Greek legend.

We were only three angry girls, to begin with. Alix, the hot-tempered surfer chick; Stephanie, the tree-hugging activist; and me, Meg, the quiet foster kid, the one who never quite fit in. We hardly knew each other, but each of us nurtured a burning anger: at the jerks in our class, at our disappointing parents, at the whole flawed, unjust world.

We were only three angry girls, simmering uselessly in our ocean-side California town, until one day a mysterious, beautiful classmate named Ambrosia taught us what else we could be: Powerful. Deadly. Furious.

“Waiting On” Wednesday (#6) – Furious

I saw this on a blog last Wednesday and just had to put it on my page!

I am so excited for it. It looks amazing 🙂

I love anything to do with Myth so this got my attention right away.

Title: The Great Gatsby
Author:
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Published:
1925

Goodreads

In 1922, F. Scott Fitzgerald announced his decision to write “somethingnew–something extraordinary and beautiful and simple and intricately patterned.” That extraordinary, beautiful, intricately patterned, and above all, simple novel became The Great Gatsby, arguably Fitzgerald’s finest work and certainly the book for which he is best known. A portrait of the Jazz Age in all of its decadence and excess, Gatsby captured the spirit of the author’s generation and earned itself a permanent place in American mythology. Self-made, self-invented millionaire Jay Gatsby embodies some of Fitzgerald’s–and his country’s–most abiding obsessions: money, ambition, greed, and the promise of new beginnings. “Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter–tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther…. And one fine morning–” Gatsby’s rise to glory and eventual fall from grace becomes a kind of cautionary tale about the American Dream.

Spare, elegantly plotted, and written in crystalline prose, The Great Gatsby is as perfectly satisfying as the best kind of poem.

I Love The Great Gatsby. It is full of amazing writing. I am so excited that it comes out next year with an awesome director and a great cast!

Baz Luhrmann is directing this master piece and i can not think of anyone better 🙂

Nick Carraway is played by my favouirte spiderman Tobey Maguire

Jay Gatsby is played by the very talented Leonardo DeCaprio

Daisy Buchanan is being played by Carey Mulligan

And our very own sexy Joel Edgerton will be playing Tom Buchanahn and gorgeous Isla Fisher will be playing Myrtle Wilson 🙂

Keep an eye out for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby!

Make sure you check out the trailer at IMDB.

If you haven’t seen the 1974 Robert Redfern version of The Great Gatsby make sure you do. It is a wonderful classic.

Title: The Host
Author:
Stephenie Meyer
Published:
2007

Goodreads

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Wanderer probes Melanie’s thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer’s mind with visions of the man Melanie loves – Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

I have to admit i still haven’t read this yet but i am on a mission to finish it before March 2013! I love the actors they picked.

Melanie and Wanda is played by Saoirse Ronan

Jared is played by Max Irons

And the seeker is played by Diane Kruger

Make sure you check out the trailer at IMDB. It looks awesome!

Sex with Strangers – by Laura Eason

Sydney Theatre Company presents

Sex with Strangers

By Laura Eason

Meet Olivia. She’s your typical literary type: bookish, private and deeply disinterested in technology. With a failed novel behind her and an almost complete manuscript in front of her, this thirty-something is having a crisis of confidence.

Enter Ethan Strange. He’s a Gen Y blogger who has topped the New York Times Best Seller list with his book Sex With Strangers, a conquest by conquest chronicle of his year on the singles scene. His bank account is brimming but even Ethan knows his writing is empty.

Despite not being a match that e-Harmony would make, when Ethan and Olivia meet they instantly click. But it’s not long before their online life threatens to destroy their real-life connection.

If theatre can go viral, that is certainly what happened when this topical comedy premiered at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre in 2011…and you don’t need a Facebook page to understand why. The title might suggest a bawdy romp, but Sex With Strangers is an extremely tender intergenerational love story. Playwright Laura Eason pits books against blogs to ask who we are in the digital age, how much we should share online and if our addiction to technology is turning us into twits.Warning: Contains Sexual References and Strong Language

This play was AMAZING! Everyone has to see it. If you love books, have a blog, are a writer or even have friends who are you will love this! It is full of laughs, romance and as it warns – sexual references and strong language.

Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’s dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myths and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

My name is Ethan Chase. And I may not live to see my eighteenth birthday.
